Great anime, ranked up their with Akira and Evangelion. Though aimed possibly at the slightly older. The movie is rather insightful probing such things as what makes something alive with a ghost/soul/conscious. The animation is well done, though is old, and the dubbing is done as well as in any movie i have seen. Set in a futuristic japan, where augmented humans (and cyborgs) have become relatively common, A cyborg police officer is involved with tracking down someone who is hacking into people mind's. In doing so find something more than she expected. The one thing i find odd; why does she on two occasions have to strip down naked? Regardless, a great movie
What makes us human? Deeply philosophical in places, and packed with action in others. The English voice acting was unconvincing in places, with some of the monologues sounding extremely amateurishly done. Recommended to be watched with the original audio and subtitles. Other than that, beautiful art, beautiful soundtrack, and a good attempt to include a whole lot of plot and culture into one film. I added it to my collection, as I knew it would be a film I would want to watch more than once, I'd recommend you do the same!
This film is one of the many legendary Animes that are a must buy for any Anime fan. Ghost In The Shell is well written, has a beautifully played out story line and will keep you well entertained throughout.
For anyone thinking of getting into Japanese animation this would be a good place to start. If you cant understand it at first, dont worry, you are being thrown in at the deep end. Thats the good thing with Japanese animation features, there are so many twists and turns through out the story until the end. So its well worth watching at least 3 or 4 times.
Great film, the second film 'Ghost in the shell 2'(I'd rank the second one 5 stars) is superb also. Very happy I found these.
