Is it quiet? is a maybe. The basic system is quiet, it has a single huge low speed fan that cools everything. If you put 5 noisy HDD in it, it won't be quiet any more. Its lower power than subsequent generations. Its well made, with 4 x 3 1/2" bays and one for an optical drive. My system runs 5 Linux VM which don't do a lot but have 2Gb RAM each. The 16G RAM is twice the documented limit. Choose your RAM carefully. It must be two identical 8GB sticks with 9 RAM chips each side. The VMs are VPN endpoint, so I can use WiFi hotspots out and and about. My router, my media collection, mail server and a few odds and ends. The lower power consumption is important as it runs 24/7. Its about 60w working hard with 5 HDD installed.

Was looking for a home server/media centre setup and this is perfect. Was going to build my own but for a similar spec it would’ve been maybe 3 times the price. Was a nice little bonus to receive an extra sea gate HDD even though listing said only 2. Now have three bays full with WD blue drives and one bay as a boot ssd so had to remove the seagate. Overall very pleased and already got windows server running and preparing to run a Plex media server
