What You Need to Know About Hillman Classic Cars

Hillman is a classic British car marque with roots reaching back more than a century to 1907. Though the company would eventually be taken over in stages by American car manufacturer Chrysler and French automaker Peugeot, many of its models, like the Hillman Imp or the Minx, remain classic cars that are beloved by automobile collectors and enthusiasts. You can purchase many of these classic models on eBay.

During its day, Hillman produced many car models. Here are a few that are especially beloved by car collectors and that can be most easily found on eBay.

• Hillman Hunter/Hillman Minx: These models are often also known as the Rootes Arrow, and they came out in four-door saloon, five-door estate and two-door coupe versions. Whether you see a vintage Hillman Hunter or a pre-owned Hillman Minx on eBay, both will come with either 1500cc or 1725cc engines.
• Hillman Imp: The Hillman Imp is a small two-door economy car that was manufactured from 1963 to 1976. Some three-door versions were also made. Versions of the Imp have top speeds ranging from 120 to 129 kilometres per hour and engine displacements of either 875 or 998 cc.
• Hillman Avenger: The Avenger is a rear-wheel drive, small family car that was manufactured from 1970 to 1978 by Chrysler and from 1978 to 1981 by Peugeot. Depending on the year under consideration, the car either had a four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission. Most versions could reach top speeds of between 131 and 138 kilometres per hour, though the Avenger Tiger could go as fast as 170 kilometres per hour. Engine displacement ranged between 1248 and 1598 cc.

Selecting the right car involves balancing all the factors you find desirable. Be sure to carefully examine each listing on eBay for pertinent information. Take note of things like the apparent condition of your chosen reasonably priced Hillman Imp or Minx.

Most Hillman cars are priced rather inexpensively on eBay. Exceptions to this rule occur in a few specific cases, however. One exception might occur if the car has been modified for rally racing. Another might occur if the car has exceptionally low mileage. The general condition of the car will also be reflected in the price. Cars that are in better shape or that may have been restored will be more expensive.
