I bought this DVD as a present for my brother who is very ill with a brain tumour. Sadly, no radio or chemo treatment is possible and his time is very limited. He is confined to bed or a chair and is very weak. The television has become his main scource of entertainment as he can no longer concentrate enough to use a computer etc. A favourite program of his is "Ice Road Truckers." As this is only a weekly program I thought I would buy him a series DVD so he could watch it more often. He thinks it is great. I find it a bit repetitive and boring myself, but each to his own. He used to be a bus driver some years ago and rather fancies that he would make a good ice road trucker himself. He has enjoyed the DVD so I have given it an excellent rating.
I bought this for my husband as he loves watching it on the TV, so I decided to buy it for him. I also think that it's a good programme as well.
This series was just amazing. The lives of the tough and the ot so tough men who brave the frozen lakes in Canada every year with all their hidden dangers was riveting. The amazing Ice Road is built every year to replenish supplies, and only lasts a few precious months of the years getting ever more precarious. The enormous Diamond Mines it supplies, with vital equipment require vast amounts of feeding. This year thy managed to shift 10,000 loads. This series focuses on about 5 drivers and their lives, following the 'Dash for the cash'. and the kudos of being the one to make the most a the end of the season. The Polar Bear and Alex fighting at the top of the tree. It does not pull any punches. The story is gripping and edge of the seat stuff. It instantly became a Channel 5 cult Hit. SO well done to them, and we can now relive those nail biting moments when we wonder if Jay's extra wide nad heavy laod will crash through the ice , or if Drews truck will break down yet again or if Ricks feet will drop off with frostbite. So get this DVD. It is simply amazing! I cannot wait for series 2 which will be along soon. Well done Channel 5, best documentary series for years, and I hope they win a BAFT. They should thoroughly deserve the accolade.Read full review
What I enjoy about ice road truckers how these guys work their butts off driving heavy machinery or toxic materials across hundreds of miles of hazrdous ice and sub zero temperatures. The program is absolutely great, wonderful scenery, gives you a great insight on how they load and unload the materials. Why did I decide to buy the season... well just because it's the best reality show on earth... only downfall is... somehow they bleep all the swearing!!!
this dvd is a very interesting documentary about extreme truck driving in bizzare conditions had seen it on tv a couple of times and due to my job i didn,t get to see the whole series and that is the reason for buying it which is get having no adverts every 5minutes and would recommend it to anyone and they don,t have to be interested in trucks as i am
