A great release of Jeff Buckley's first ever studio recordings for his record label Columbia, about 1993. His talent and potential are shining on the atmospheric and esoteric early recordings . Nearly all covers, except for his own "Grace",and previously unreleased "Dream of you and I" the collection includes two good Smiths covers, "Boy with the thorn in his side" and a live finisher favourite, "I know it's over", but also from the studio, Dylan's" Just like a woman" which opens the album, and Led Zep's "Night Flight", both of which Jeff used to play in the intimate setting of his cafe days shows at Sin-E in New York in the early '90's.
Jeff's versatility and tastes for world music from many different backgrounds are evident, he juxtaposes the urban Arrested Development tune Everyday People and a vintage blues tune Poor Boy Long Way From Home inimitably.
Different atmosphere to the live shows, naturally, but if you are a fan of Jeff's work, you should love this little gem.
