Second studio album from Liverpudlian five-piece The Zutons. This is the follow-up to 2004's double platinum-selling and Mercury Music Prize-nominated debut 'Who Killed The Zutons'. Produced by Stephen Street (Kaiser Chiefs/The Smiths), the album was recorded in London towards the end of 2005. Track listing 1. Tired Of Hanging Around 2. It's The Little Things We Do 3. Valerie 4. Someone Watching Over Me 5. Secrets 6. How Does It Feel 7. Why Won't You Give Me Your Love 8. Oh Stacey (Look What You've Done) 9. You've Got A Friend In Me 10. Hello Conscience 11. I Know I'll Never Leave
This album is pure brilliance by the scouse quintet responsible for one of the best albums of 2004. This album is much better put together than their debut (with the help of a new producer), having toned down the saxophone use the band sound more conventional and are better for it. With catchy guitar riffs and heartfelt lyrics this album could well be one of the best of the year. It bounces along with huge amounts of energy on tracks such as secrets and the title track - tired of hanging around. But also has softer numbers such as Someone watching over me which are equally brilliant. For me the best track is 'You got a friend in me' alongside other standout tracks 'Valerie' and 'Why won't you give me your love' make this the best album of the year so far and unworthy of the criticism thrown at it by so many.Read full review
