A good sturdy unit ,I have used it to upgrade the electrics on an older machine in conjunction with a rewire. if it is being used as a replacement it comes with easy to read wiring instructions, with the bonus of an essential emergency stop button,Another top quality item from axminster tools..

This product appears well made, and was easy enough to install on a bench mounted radial arm saw. The motor rating is within the specification of the switch, but the STOP button requires being held down for several seconds for it to latch off. The E Stop button works as expected, and is a better bet for stopping the saw in general use, though it only isolates the live supply. As it is being used in a private workshop, this is acceptable, but I doubt whether it would pass the safety standards in an industrial setting. Consequently, it is priced rather high.

Compact and easy to install. However it is missing an important earth (protective conductor) connection point. There's a moulded mounting for one but the terminal block itself is not included. You can get round this fairly easily with a suitable connector x do not just twist the wires together - but it does spoil an otherwise nice component and would have got five starts but for this.

This unit is easy to mount in a tough plastic box, works well and the enclosed wiring diagram makes installation a doddle. There is plenty of room to use an earth connector, but there isn't one included. As I cut the power between the plug and my lathe, it was essential the earth is connected through the unit.

I fitted this switch to a 1/3h.p. pillar drill to provide additional safety in the event of power outage. The unit is well made and looks sturdy so should last well in the workshop. The wiring diagram provided is clear and easy to follow but one minor critisism would be the provision for an earth connection to the machine is omitted. I connected mains earth and machine earth using a terminal block onnector which fitted neatly inside the mounting box - job done, and safe. The unit provides a cost effective alternative to a full online starter switch but does not provide overload protection. Very happy with this purchase.
