Great for Disabled and Able Bodied People

I use this trackerball as I am disabled. I have lie flat for quite a long time. I use my laptop as a chest top! The trackerball allows me to use a pointing device with comfort. It is well designed and beats it's predecessor with having a retain ball. The scroll ring is also another innovative design feature. Overall it is great.

Limited choice of trackballs, but this is uncomfortable

Maybe I had oddly shaped hands, but this trackball just seems to bulky and high where the palm of your hand sits. With or without the supplied rubber palm rest, your arm ends up at an uncomfortable angle and your palm will be sore after a few hours' work. I had my old Logitech Trackman for years, it fitted perfectly. But these days the choice of trackballs is limited, I've bought another Logitech instead. The kensington just seems too wide, it's buttons don't sit where your fingers are. The scroll ring is nice though, better than Logitech's awkward extra buttons.

  • A very comfortable alternative to a mouse

Setup is easy, simply pop the ball into place, plug into a USB port, and you're away. No batteries to worry about. Easy. The software (I downloaded latest version from the Kensington website), is an optional easy install to get the most out of the functionality of the device. It works just fine without bothering with this step in Win7. I found using it very strange at first, and after a little while built up the muscle memory to make using everything fine without frustration. I found the scroll wheel much more comfortable to use than the one on a regular mouse. My hand remains comfortably in place on the added wrist rest, and using the device is easy with just a couple of fingers. Without the claw-hand fatigue of a mouse. I like the fact I can use my thumb to operate the right-click button (I'm a leftie), so no more annoying wrong clicks for me. I also like how the cursor remains exactly where I leave it, so no more hunting for it if the mouse gets moved, as used to happen. I find it's great for internet, desktop & office apps. I have no idea how this would perform for gaming. My guess is that it would depend entirely on the dexterity of the user. In general I'm very glad I bought this, and laugh when I think why I didn't get one sooner.

  • Reliable product

I've been using trackballs for years and they're all much the same apart from this one. It has a scroll ring which I find very useful. The reason I haven't given it five stars is because it wears out after a while and I end up having to replace it. No idea why this is but it's not just the Kensington trackballs. The nice thing about them is the price and so I don't mind buying a new one every few years.

  • It is so much easier to navigate with it than with mouse!

With the ball one can move both fast and precisely and even not at all, if required. The scroll ring is very convenient. Non-slippery base makes it possible to use it even on not-flat surface. It is easy to clean if it collects dust or so. Works well under linux, which provides options for customization.

  • comfortable and easy to use :)

I have arthritis, and I love the trackball mouse because its so easy and comfortable to us. An added bonus is the scroll ring, which I have never had before. I love it :)

  • This mouse make work a doddle.

This is the 4th one of these I have purchased. I work from home. At all my workstations I have very little room to move a mouse around and scrolling down a long document took skill! The precision of this mouse, with a very light scroll ring, makes working on documents or spreadsheets a dream. Very solidly made and the quality 'feels' very good. On the downside, the ball is not very well retained in its carrier so if you tilt or knock it over the ball falls out! Great fun for the cat! Also, it has a very loud click, but would definitely recommend.

Very good bit of kit for visually impaired laptop users

  • Much better than expected!

This trackball is much better than the Logitech Marble which I replaced with this one. Better build quality, very stable and robust. Buttons feel like they will last. And most important is - the ball is so smooth to move and much more accurate than the Marble. Not to forget the biggest advantage - it has a scroll!!!! And a much more comfortable one than those on a regular mouse. Absolutely recommended!

  • Very comfortable. B+

This trackball is very comfortable in use. But I find that the left click sometimes fails to take me back one page. Perhaps that's just my old fingers not working properly. :¬)
