I am one of these people who believes rock music has run its course in terms of energy, talent, origionality and scope. The business sanitises all credible and uniqueness in favour of a lucrative 'Chart Hit'. Where as bands were picked for doing something special which would leap them into public hearts through skill and creativity we are left with corporate icons who deliver safe, over comercialised fodder! The Klaxons are one of these bands who have linked both aspects well. Energy rawness, sellability and an underlying creative fun. Songs like Gravity's Rainbow, Its not over, and Goldern Skans have a youthful party quality amid a raw and sometimes flowing ambience. I hope they are not a one hit wonder and fulfil a gap in Rock Music's stale image!
I bought this album prior to seeing them at the academy in birmingham. I didn't no much of them except for their hit single 'Golden Skans' which of course I loved! 3 of the 11 songs I don't really like but the rest are great, with my favorites being 'Totem on the timeline" and "Two Recievers". I thought this was a great album and i live in great expectation of their music to follow, great live band, great album, great music! Great buy for any indie fan :)
Bought this album, every single and all other Klaxons-related CD/Vinyl and LOVE them all. The music is new and worth a good listen to, must of done something right to get the mercury award for the album. Can't wait until the next album should be amazing and very promising. Singles like 'Golden Skans', 'Gravity's Rainbow', 'Magik' ad my personal favourite 'Atlantis To Interzone' make the album a very worth while buty, you wont be disappointed one bit.
I recently saw the klaxons at Reading festival this year, though I had heard of their big song "its not over yet" I didn't really have a clear picture of what they were like. Well they were amazing live, so thought I would buy the album, and to be honest it was absoluty amasing, all the songs are great and I found myself listening to them over and over. I am just waiting for their second album now lol. There is only one problem with this album, why do bands, recording studios etc feel the need to place a 15min track at the end of the album, in which the song goes for about 3.5mins then stops for like 10 so I am sitting here with 10mins of silence that really doesn't add to the greatness. Apart from that a perfect 5 of 5 for me.
Whenever i heard them on radio or saw them on mtv, i was intrigued, so bought the cd. Really like this album, there are some great jump about songs in there. Its good but not excellent, as with most albums there are always a couple of tracks that aren't as fantastic as others. Think they will be absolutely mind-blowing live with their whole nu-rave/psychedelia crossed with borderline hysteria thang going on. 4/5
