Great Flask, One Can Scarcely Get A Better One
The overall sleek design makes packaging and storing easy compared to flasks with handles. Heat retention is also very good, enough for a full days adventure. The TK wide series are also easy to clean, with wide threads on the cap and bumps on the flask inner spout. The loop makes opening easier, even when waring gloves. Comparing these to another upmarket flask, the Thermos King, these are definitely superior. Somewhat better build quality and a full stainless steel interior, which leaves no odour on the contents. The same applies when comparing to the Stanley Legend (the ubiquitous green flask,) where the plastic stopper transfers plastic smell the the contents. This is particularly true with hot water. While heat retention does not quite match up to the Stanleys' 48 hours of the largest bottle, it has to be said that bottle contains double the liquid volume and therefore the surface area to volume percentage is much less. Sure, in terms of build quality, the regular TK Wide falls short of the Stanley Master series, which also have a full stainless steel interior. They are more expensive but are indeed tougher. There have been two minor issues I have had using this flask (and its smaller 20oz counterpart.) One is that the cap is more time consuming to put on than other flasks. My guess is its because of the bumps rather than grooves of the spout. Another is splash-back when drinking directly while in motion. If one is moving (walking) and drinking from the flask and then returning it to horizontal quickly, the contents hits the base and splashes back. Fine for water, not so fine with hot coffee.
