Earlier I purchased a Minolta Dynax 4, which worked very well, except for a problem with the exposure counter. Since I already have two lenses I thought I should probably invest in another Minolta SLR, and this Dynax 40 is it. It isn't a top-of-the range model, but I imagine the pictures it takes will be just as good. A few quirks, which I will get used to: There is no on-off button. Instead you need to rotate the function dial to an OFF position. Different to the Dynax 40. Also different is the way you apply exposure compensation, using a button on the back of the camera. Finally, the display in the viewfinder is fairly minimalist. Doesn't show aperture or shutter speed. You need to use the LCD on the top to see that. But I'm happy. The camera handles pretty well, isn't too heavy, and I got it for less than the price of a disposable camera, so I really can't complain.Read full review

As a collecter of old cameras (Film), I could not resist the Minolta camera of which I have many, probably will never use,as I now use Digital, but the price was right, and this was a model I did not have.
This camera is in almost mint condition and I love the feel of it. It is light, looks good and I am sure some will think it is a Digital SLR, it's so modern looking. looking forward to putting a film in it and going out to do some serious film photography. Most are discarding their film camera's for the convenience of Digital. But the viewfinder on a good film SLR beats any Digital I have used. This Minolta along with Minolta AF lenses will produce excellent pictures. It has so many feature to assist the enthusiast in picture taking. Now that I have found that i can have my films processed and put on a high resolution disk, without prints, I can do everything digitaly and still use film and my collection of excellent film camera's. There are some real bargains on e-bay so will keep looking for my next film camera.Read full review
