I made the mistake of buying a cheap 4-port SATA PCIe card for my Truenas server. It was trash - kept causing errors. Research showed the chips are designed for 2 ports and then split and it doesn't really work well. This card by contrast is perfect. It is designed to support 8 drives out of the box and since it went in a week ago, the NAS hasn't batted an eyelid! Brilliant.
