Judy Garland-Me And My Shadows.DVD.
Having read the book with the same title by Lorna Luft(a great book which i highly recommend)and as an avid Garland fan i felt compelled to order the dvd.I wasnt disappointed either.Tammy Blanchard as the young Garland was brilliantly cast but Judy Davis as the more mature Garland really excelled.A wonderful account of Judys life.The highs,the lows,the tragedies that engulfed her life at certain points.Although she comes across as a tragic victim of circumstance at times it should not be forgotten that she was also a funny,caring woman who loved her children very much.The dvd is successful at showing her story which leaves you feeling sad at how such a woman with such a massive talent could cut short her life due to the drugs and alcohol.If rehab had been around then we could be viewing a ... Judy Garland - Me and my Shadows DVD 2002
This film portrays Judy Garland as the public did not see her. Although she was the wonderful singer and actress as we know, she did have a very difficult personal life. Judy Garland, behind the glamour was introduced to acting to soon and so much was expected of her. She tried to please everyone and in the end the pills she was introduced to, as a child, killed her. Judy Garland will never be forgotten. I feel that she suffered unnecessarily trying to deal with pleasing her family and her public. This film is truly inspiring and I would recommend anyone to watch it and then understand the name "Me and My Shadows".This film portrays Judy Garland as the public did not see her. Remarkable
This is spooky -- Tammy Blanchard who plays the young Judy Garland looks rather like her, but when the movie moves to Judy Davis as the adult Garland it is a new ball game. Davis is remarkable -- I felt convinced I was watching Garland! The film is based on the book by Lorna Luft (Garland's daughter) and packs quite a punch. It shows Garland's rise to fame, her struggles with the pressures of her career and her devotion to her children. Lots of drama and lots of music, but perhaps the lasting memory is that of Judy Davis as Garland.This is spooky -- Tammy Blanchard who plays the young Judy Garland looks rather like her, but when the movie moves to Judy Davis as the adult Garland it is a new ball game. This film is a must for all Garland fans! I was enthralled from start to finish. Tammy Blanchard is convincing as the young Judy and Judy Davis is absolutely fantastic as the older Garland - she has her mannerisms down to a tee! She really deserves some recognition for her performance. A surprise casting of Hugh Laurie, who plays Judy's second husband, Vincente Minnelli. However, he plays a great part. A highly entertaining and sad film about a remarkable woman. I just had to buy this film, simply because I just adore Judy Garland. Even my husband, who I have to say is not such a fan, thoroughly enjoyed it! May the legend live on! Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!This film is a must for all Garland fans! Fantastic biopic!
every stage of this production is fantastic.. the young judy just looks so much like her... and Judy davis... is phenomenal! A must for any hollywood buff... or garland fan!
