This is an ok cd, well performed and produced but it's not a vital cd. So apart from the main single "what your made of" then why on earth did I buy it?....... Simple, it contains a very pretty version of "nothing else matters" (yes, that one, the Metallica over-played beast ballad) and judging by reaction from the serious rock heads who all seem to want to send Miss Silvas to the bowels of the earth for covering "their" song, I am even more pleased that she went for it. So as an alternative to the ponderous dated original here we have a fresh (sort of) alternative and it gets up the noses of the plebs who want full on noise (nothing wrong with that by the way, but there is a time and place for everything). The rest of the cd is housewife friendly fodder with touches of Chris Rea in it's style.Read full review

great songs, a good album. A stunning voice, so clear and put to good use! Her lyrics are amazing, and every song has substance, A very solid debut album.
I purchased this somewhat on a impulse after checking out some of her playing on You Tube recently and basically purchased the CD for one track (Nothing else Matters) thinking at best there were going to be at least a couple of tracks that I would like as unfortunately experience of buying other CDs recently fell short of the mark, boy how wrong could I be! This really is an excellent first album that really does showcase Lucie's obvious talents, maturity and range as a singer. This CD came out in 2004 and still sounds fresh today whether listening in a controlled environment or the car, Ipod etc. I read some reviews that likened her to a fusion between Alicia Keys and Pink, there are some similarities but Lucie still manages to stamp her own style on the rich Acoustic guitar, Piano & strings layered backing. Subtleties and soul pushing through effortlessly. The Ballads are very strong, clearly displayed in the hit single 'What you're Made Of'. The CD generally is recorded very well and production is clean with projection without making the recordings sound too clinical with the overall effect sounding very warm. IMHO little to dislike with this CD. In an nutshell I enjoyed this WHOLE CD and continue to do so which is a rarity in my recent experiences..so there you are, give it a try if you like sensitive and wide dynamic ranging female orientated vocals and want a introduction into this exceptionally talented singer then I doubt you will be disappointed.Read full review
