I noticed on an all-in-one micro-SD CCTV camera I purchased, that it had a narrow view angle. I removed the resin seal on it's M12 threaded lens by constantly dabbing and wiping the resin with methylated spirits on a cotton bud for about 30 mins and also scraping the resin off carefully. Next time I'll first try to break the seal during the start of that meths process by unscrewing the lens as the old one can be disposed of. Once the resin was removed without damaging the plastic lens holder thread, then this lens could be carefully inserted. It is good quality and made of metal, it was also a very tight fit and so I used silicon grease to prevent damage to the thread holder, it worked well and as it's a tight fit then I haven't needed to reseal it after setting the focus. This 2.8mm increases the 'true viewing angle' to about 60deg, whereas the original 3.6mm was about 40deg and so it's wider but ideally I need it much wider and am now looking at a 1.39mm fish-eye that is close to 180deg. It is a nuisance that the quoted viewing angle on these small lenses is often much less than their 'true viewing angle'.Read full review
