The plastic locating peg has no small taper at the start. It is flat. Previous connector had taper. There was also some burring or residual flashing from the molding. This stopped it entering the socket. The plastic locating peg had to be filed on the flat top to allow it to make entry before connection. This is not a single occurrence as both my plugs had the same problem. Detail picture of peg would be helpful.
