    Improves the brightness

    Much bright light than incandescent bulb but you cannot adjust to a spotlight because there is no range for adjustment of the focal position. As long as you only need diffuse lighting it is good, with the added benefit that the battery should last much longer too.

    Good but could do with design improvement.

    A much brighter bulb than the original incandescent type. The bulb pushes the lens and reflector housing forward, but there was not enough thread left to keep that part secure. I removed the plastic reflector unit and shimmed the reflector housing with o-rings to ensure the torch would switch off correctly. With hindsight I should have considered putting the cost towards a new LED Solitaire model.

    Don’t fix what ain’t broke.

    This item for me at least, does not function as expected. In order for the thumb switch to operate the power on / off function, you will first need to unscrew the head of the torch (as you would normally switch it on). However, the replacement LED torch head has a shorter thread. This results in the thread on the torch head only just being held on. A slight touch or knock ant the torch head falls off and its ‘lights out’ Please also note that installing the LED alternative means you lose the spot to flood ability. Not fit for purpose.

    Not as good as it seemed☹

    It was easy to,fit,but when tested, the beam adjustment was restricted, due to the thickness of the part below the LED I.E..If you unscrew the bulb holder to adjust the beam then the adjuster comes off the top of the torch☹

    Maglite 1AAA Solitaire LED upgrade

    A major improvement in light output but the torch no longer fits together properly. The lens cap is only held on by a turn of thread and could easily be lost.
