It's tricky writing a review for a film made by a 'tainted' person so I'll just stick to the movie and you can make your own minds up about Mr Allen! This is why restored Blu-Ray versions are essential..... the clarity of sound and picture don't change the film (which is a heartfelt homage to a place Woody Allen probably never dares now visit.... punishment enough perhaps?) but brings it up to date. some career highs for many of the other actors, and one of Woody Allens best works, better in my opinion than Annie Hall et al. because its a love story about a geographic location, as well as his now ubiquitous obsession with the ladies (and ironically) younger ladies! if youve got the DVD trust me the upgrade is worth a few pounds/dollars x

Possibly one of the best 🎥 movies ever made and certainly Woody Allen's finest. This film is about ❤️ love and human frailty but the plot, what there is of it, is almost irrelevant because the star of the show is Manhattan. The city comes to life in stunning black and white and is almost has its own part to play in the movie. Gershwin's music provides the perfect soundtrack which lifts the work higher again. Please watch this in full wide-screen as the director intended. The final scene is an absolute triumph.
