Choosing an amp is difficult. You read all of the reviews. You get bamboozled by terms like “musicality, timing, soundstage, separation”. At the heart of it this sounds great, is powerful enough to run a decent set of speakers and 4ohm rated speakers, it has all the connections you need, enough analog, with several digital options and is very good value for money. I was drawn by features such as the toroidal transformer and the dac. Is it better sounding than a Rega brio, Yamaha, quad vena, onkyo, Nad or denon (I looked at all of these)? Depends on your sound tastes. I just know that it sounds a lot clearer than my Sonos set up (which are good for what they do) and if you choose this integrated amp you won’t go far wrong. It’s the equivalent of buying a VW Golf. I mean that as a good thing and no one would really have a strong enough argument to have chosen anything else. Now just plug it in and enjoy your music with a decent set of speakers... a whole other discussion. I chose Quad S-1 to go with the pm6006ukse for their ability to handle vocals and detail. I chose these over the Monitor Audio Bronze. But also liked the Dali, Missions - all sounded great too. I aspire to the Dynaudio Emits which I did not have the opportunity to test but like the idea of their reported low level performance. If anyone has tried this combo I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether they work together.Read full review

I have two of these for presenting recitals to U3A jazz groups and a couple of local big band societies. One I use in my recording system; the other as a transport for presentations - together with a separate Cambridge DacMagic III, although the internal DAC is more than adequate. Excellent, reliable machine which gives a very good sound. One slight niggle is that you cannot pause and restart using the pause button. You have to use the start (forward arrow) button, which is counter-intuitive, and I do get caught out occasionally. Excellent remote and instant reaction every time, which is important to a presenter. Recommended. I bought factory recon for circa £250 in both cases. Unreserved recommendation.

Great quality of construction and sound production. Easy to connect to the CD Player, radio, Phono and Tape deck, and to my speakers.

For the money it's a very good sound. Just a shame it's the old 6005 design and not a new one. A flat front instead of a curved front would induce more people to buy this very good cd player.
