Don't throwaway your sparking microwave!
An easy, low cost fix to get your microwave oven working again. Just use the existing spark damaged/dirty wave cover as a template and use a sharp craft knife to trim to correct size.

Good quality sheet for making your own replacement
This is just a plain sheet of mica, you need to cut it to size with scissors, using the old sheet as a template. This can be a bit tricky, the only reason for 4 stars, a pore-cut sheet would be 5 stars! The mica is nice and thick, so it should stand up to use and be easy to keep clean. The main reason the mica fails is food waste accumulating on it, which ends up carbonising creating a conductive patch that arcs violently, making the situation worse. If you get arcing, try scraping the mica clean, you shoudl be able to do this a few timers before the mica gets so thin it needs replacing. Microwave guide cover
Bought it yesterday, received it second post today. An excellent and inecpensive repair kit. My microwave guide cover died a death, it was over 25 years old so had done well. Unfortunately my microwave is obsolete so i couldn't by a new guide cover and was faced paying for a new microwave. £2.99 to make a new one using the old cover as a template....absolute bargain.
