I bought this lens , it is great value for money . The lens is made for cameras with APS-C type sensor . It gives you full-frame photos . Using the lens is simple , there is no auto-focus , but once you have set it in focus , manually , thats it , you can change aperture etc , you just keep shooting , no need to keep refocusing the lens . The lens is sharp , photos good quality . The best thing for me was the challenge of using it , trying not to get fingers , feet or body parts in photo, but also how to get the most out of it , using your imagination . You cannot fit a filter , because hood permanently attached . When not using lens , at all times put lens cap on , even when walking between shots . You will not buy a better value fisheye lens , at this price its a steal . Lastly this lens is fun to use and good quality build .Read full review
I have always wanted a super wide-angle lens for my Nikon D-70 and the Samyang 8 mm tick's all the boxes, its lightweight, smooth to operate and has clear markings with high image quality. Great lens for interiors and can test your artistic skills outdoors. This lens has to be used on manual, but that is only a minor inconvenience. Great value and quality, and after having used the Samyang for a few months I have no regrets with the purchase.
I recently purchased the Samyang 8mm fish-eye with Nikon mount after having owned the same lens with an Olympus 4/3 mount. The downside to the 4/3 version is that although the lens fits the Olympus body, the focal length is changed by the smaller sensor and the fish eye image is only about 130˚ field of view. With the Nikon mount the lens gives a full 180˚ field of view, resulting in a classic fish eye image. I bought this lens mainly due to the price, at around $300 you cant really go wrong. Although there are none of the modern perks like auto focus or a CPU, it is fun to go back to the old school and have to rely purely on manual settings, which in this day and age of digital cameras is not really that difficult. You can preview all your shots straight after you take them and don't have to wait to get your film developed to find out if you had the correct exposure as you took the shot. All in all, if you are looking to have some fun with fish eye pics and don't want to spend a lot of money I would highly recommend getting one of these Samyang lenses.Read full review
This was required for my business - price was a major consideration - quality was a lesser consideration - I was surprised by the quality which greatly exceeded my expectations All the testing ideas I found on the Web were tried and this lens did really well for the price. I found minimal distortion at the edges - (I tested it on a full frame camera - Nikon d600)- and consequently found the best results by cropping the outside of the image - especially when close Greg Scott dasupport.com.au
