Whilst this lens is absolutely brilliant, the use for it is quite niche; I say this because it isn't overly great in low-lighting conditions, so you'll either need to rely on decent lighting outside or other light sources; this is because whilst the widest aperture is f/2.8, it has a T-stop value of T/5.6 which is a difference of 2 stops in lighting. The advantages of using this lens compared to others is the creamy smooth background when using within the STF range and will produce the most perfect circular bokeh with certain background lighting. Note: this lens does have a macro mode but this ISN'T really a macro lens with a minimum focus distance of 57cm. If you're looking for a lens that allows you to get really close to a subject, get the SEL90F28G lens which has a minimum focal distance of 28cm (and is better in low-light).Read full review
