great VFM and inexpensive

Surprising Performance
I replaced some rather “Hot” ceramic pickups on an SX bass which I found too harsh. The lower output but greater range (particularly the top end) suits the vintage feel of the bass which now has a sweet rounded tone which is great to play and the top can be reduced with the tone control. Just lovely with finger or slap playing. I’m not looking to pay more as I’m sure the sound will not improve much.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great value pickups for upgrading budget basses.
I installed these pickups in a cheap P Bass clone and with a new set of strings the improvement in sound depth and clarity was astonishing. For the money, this is a very worthwhile upgrade for basses in the lower price range.

Sounds better than it should for the price
Upgrade the ceramic pickup in a squier affinity with this. I was concerned because this pickup was so inexpensive. I haven’t tried it against more expensive pickups, but it sounded much better than the original pickup - warmer, more controlled and smoother low end, fuller mids. Bargain Tone Upgrade.
I’ve paired these with a set of cheap Adagio Flatwounds on a very second hand cheap Squier Affinity P Bass. The tone is deep and warm and good enough to gig with. Very happy.

Okay for the price
The pickup coils are not attached to the outer casing. This means that you need a foam wad to go between the coil and the guitar body to keep it in place. It would have been handy if these were provided with the pick-ups. The screws are not very strong - I crubbed the screw head on one while fitting it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
