Non-traditional Lovecraftian pleasure.
This is a collection of stories EDITED by Ramsey Campbell - only one of them is his. All the stories are highly enjoyable, and one or two are exceptional - Lumley's "The Star Pools" and T.E.D. Klein's "Black Man With A Horn", for example. Even Stephen King manages to churn out a passable Mythos work, without any lamp-monsters or other inanimate-objects-come-to-life... The stated aim of this volume is to collect together some of the more unusual, less stereotypically Lovecraftian tales that populate the Cthulhu Mythos today, and it greatly succeeds. Not one tale reads like a parody or pastiche of the great man, and some even surpass him in downright horror.
