Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D Lens
I bought this lens because I wanted a prime lens with a fast (wide) aperture that would double as a macro lens with magnification up to 1:1 ratio and for use as a portrait lens. With the 50% increase in effective focal length on my Nikon digital camera making it a 90mm focal length it is great for getting close up without being "in the model's face". I love the F2.8 aperture which allows me to differentiate the subject from the background with a wide aperture be it a person's face, insect or a flower. It has a manual focus over-ride which is essential for macro work where critical focus is required on eyes or stamen. I know the Nikon brand is a little more expensive than OEM kit, but I find Nikkor lenses hard to fault, and they are robust amd reliable.

The close up photographic answer
This is a superb item for detailed photography gives excellent close-up quality - very simplistic to use and even for the untrained user easy to understand the technical capability's it affords - no down-sides. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Nikon D AF mm Lens to anybody wanting to improve their photographic pictures. It simply resolved all my image problems - should have bought one when I first purchased the camera.

Very sharpe accurate prime lens equally as good at Macro and Portraits
This is a very good lens. I bought it to try it out as I was starting to enjoy macro photography and I wanted a better quality lens. I read several reviews and the Nikon Micro 60mm came highly recommended from several reviews (including Ken Rockwell) so I gave it a try. I have been impressed that straight from the off the lens has produced some very good pictures at Macro level and a bonus is this lens is also good for portraits too - so two for the price of one !!
