Nokia N8 uses symbian O/S its still posible to find a range of apps online. It has a 12.5 mps camera with a Carl Zeiss lens that takes very good photos. It's better in low light than my wife's 41mps camera on her Nokia 1020. 3g enabled, can connect to wifi. Has Bluetooth. A useful HDMI output via mini socket. Memory can be augmented with a mini sd card. If you don't need the very latest phone this will do a very good job. Will fit in your pocket nicely.

N8 is the best phone ever, but because Symbian no longer supported and MS appear to have sabotaged link to pc (Ovi Suite, although can do it with Bluetooth) the phone is getting less useful, e.g. Latest uk map update is Feb 2015. I use it mainly as camera and mp3 player with its FM transmitter. HDMI link to tv is useful to show photos and internet tv. Overall, I use another phone for calls, messaging and calendar, n8 for music & pics (sd card removable without taking phone apart)

I purchased this to replace a Nokia 6303. My priority was a mobile with a good quality camera and the N8 is streaks ahead of any other phone with a 12mp camera and HD video. I only use a phone for occasional calls and texts but wanted a good camera with me at all times. The features on the phone are excellent with full internet facilities. It is releatively easy to use. Large screen and a smart design. I bought this as an unlocked used item but it arrived absolutely mint in original box with all accessories.
I bought this N8 because I have always liked Nokia phones and thought it would be a good alternative to my I Phone with a better camera and longer battery life. I was right about the camera but mistaken about everything else. Some examples of how bad the phone is, when a call comes in and the screen is locked you have to unlock the screen before you can answer the call which means you often lose the call. When on a call you have to be careful how you hold the phone to your face to avoid your ear or cheek accidentally activating a key with unpredictable outcomes but calls are lost again. Battery life is no better and maybe even worse than an I phone. This maybe the battery but as the battery is inbuilt, replacement is not straightforward. Accessing applications is far too longwinded, with an I phone, all applications can be displayed as icons so one touch and the application is launched. With the N8, you have to press 3 buttons to get to even commonly used applications such as Mail.Read full review
There are some things you want to do with a cell phone; some things you need to do. YOU CHOOSE - WANTED - I wanted to take panoramic high def pix at 12 mpixels. I also wanted to shoot hi def video. I wanted to listen to internet radio. I wanted to have a sleep timer. I wanted to watch BBC iPlayer and other FLASH/Divx video either streamed or not. I wanted to watch full HD movies straight out of the HDMI connector on the phone in surround sound. I wanted an MP3 Player with full control over folders, playlists and equaliser. I wanted to stream all of that to my car via FM radio with no added hardware or wires. I wanted apps to suit my lifestyle. I wanted to play Angry Birds and other games to download from an official Nokia App website. Then I wanted cool wallpaper, scrolling screen, one-touch input to apps. I also wanted proper PC backup for ALL my phone's data. I could have wanted an iPhone but I would have been sadly disappointed... NEEDED - OK I needed a phone that bluetoothed to my car's internal system. Yep. Listen to your map directions thru the radio. Cool. I needed true community support so I had a phone to upgrade when I chose to do so. I needed a phone with free maps, traffic info and speed warnings. I needed a really simple contact list, calender and appointments manager. I needed voice input recognition. Oh, and I needed to make a few calls (thru wifi or regular 3g mobile). That's why I chose a Nokia N8 with super hi-def touch screen To go with me everywhere. Have complete internet access thru wi-fi or 3g and not to let me down.Read full review
