I have two of these excellent little camcorders. There’s plenty of auto features and enough manual features for beginner filmmaking albeit very simple filmmaking. You can easily swivel the LCD screen round for vlogging and the sound quality is reasonable.

A lot of these units particularly the secondhand ones do not appear to come with the AC power input which in effect is a 'dummy battery' which hooks up via a cable to the charger to run the camcorder off the mains..... If you are recording something of length ie a concert, would suggest purchasing a vw vbn 130 battery which lasts about two and a half hours, the standard 70 battery with these only last about an hour......AVOID buying the 260 battery as you need to purchase an adapter to hook it to the camcorder and like the dummy AC battery pack are as rare as gold dust.......Also beware buying clone batteries for these camcorders as Panasonic charger's do not appear to like them and in some cases wont work in the camcorders either..... I have used Panasonic camcorders for years, but there are design faults with this model in the power pack and battery areas which sadly let it down, although it gives a great HD picture and audio..... That said these units are relatively cheap secondhand and for holiday video's etc are excellent.Read full review

Very easy to use, however don't expect HD quality from a domestic camcorder ! 1080 settings look ok when well lit (hence they added a light), otherwise grainy and worse than a miniDV would produce under the same conditions. Make sure you buy from a UK based dealer - the one i bought came from the states, so i had to install the software on my pc for NTSC USA settings. And yes - you need a fast pc to playback the files with A LOT of storage. 60 mins of 1080 is about 8GB !
A good compact camera with HD
