This is an original pattern Lucas switch/rheostat. For my car (Austin16 ) from 1948 the spindle was different but I was able to cannibalise using the new rheostat so I am pleased with the result. It seemed a bit expensive but I couldn’t find them cheaper.

Used this to get my dash lights working. Did the job all working now. Can I just point out that to take off the original plastic adjustment knob there is a hole near the end that you need to push a small screwdriver in to release a pin to allow the knob to slide off. Don’t just pull as I did

It is what it is, it cannot be seen behind the dashboard and it works, not sure what else to say. If it lasts 40 years like the previous one I will not be around to buy a replacement.
