Me and my hubby are absolutely stunned by this tv and at the price we paid for it it really is behind what we expected. Great value for money, excellent image quality and sound! I have recommended it to everyone I know who's thinking of getting a new tv! :)

Our previous sitting room television was a good reliable Panasonic 32" CRT. Although I knew I would get almost nothing for it I wanted to change to a flatscreen HD ready TV but have been waiting for prices to come down (which they have compared with 3-4 years ago). The CRT model, apart from being very heavy, was so deep that wherever we put it in the room it always seemed to protrude into living space. I searched ebay for a large HD ready flat screen and found this model at what I felt was a very reasonable price (£499 + £50 tpt). It had spent a short spell as a showroom model and was to all sense and purpose in new condition. Well, I managed to sell the CRT model for £50 and I suppose I can't complain about that, it seems to be about the going rate for those sets. The new Panasonic 42" plasma is brilliant, everything as advertised and more besides. The colours are more life-like, there is no "barrel" distortion as sometimes occured with the CRT and although a considerably larger screen, it is much less conspicuous because it doesn't steal our floor space. And of course we are now able to view a large number of channels in high definition. I think HD is remarkable: it depends on the programme you are watching - in some cases the difference between normal digital and HDMI may not seem all that much especially during daytime when the room is strongly lit from outside, but in respect to sports programmes when watching at night or when curtains are drawn, the definition and colour are outstanding. It all has to come at a price of course: the purchase of a Sky HD set top box at £210 and a £10 monthly subscription are all straight out-of-pocket expense but we feel that, having passed the age of regular pubbing and clubbing, it is cheaper for us to enjoy really good viewing as our preferred alternative.Read full review
This is currently one of the (if not the) best 42 inch plasma televisions out at the moment. Supedseding the TX-42PX60, this boasts a better contrast ratio (approx. 10000:1 if i remember correctly), with a resolution of 1,366 x 768, supporting 1080i pictures. The picture quality with digital broadcasts is superb, and if you're lucky enough to have a HD box, it makes digital look like analogue, as digital once made analogue look in comparison to it. The sound from the 2 speakers is great, and unless you look carefully you won't even see the speakers as they blend into the unit. Headphone volume can be controlled seperately from the main menu, so 1 person can listen to something louder/quieter than other people. With 2 HDMI, and 3 Scart sockets, you have more than enough connections for your appliances, though there are also S-video, Component, and RF inputs, along with a SD card slot. Though the fan kicks in when the screen gets too hot, it's not so noisy (in my opinion anyway) as to detract from the amazing viewing experience offered by this panel.Read full review
