The Head Unit is great Costumizable unit. I like it, it can do many features luke Low/High Pass, BBE, Comp/BMX 13 band Equ., 2 Costumizable EQ Profile, BT Audio and Phone features, You can calibrate to the sitting position the sound level, ect ect... The only missing thong is te USB, you can use for this the CD-UB100 via IP-Bus, but the only disliked feature about this is it can't controll it whit full function. It means you can not browse in the lists, and so... But the sound quality is great ;)
I have installed and used this unit and I'm quite happy with the sound and accessory options of the unit, mainly the iPod and external control function, few things I didn't like about the unit were (bare in mind this is the US model and not the UK): 1) No ISO Connector (so I adapted it using an ISO connector for easy mess free fitting, plus I don't like butchering the connectors of a car,so I soldered the wires to an iso connector and used heat-shrink tubing). 2) RDS does not exist on this unit (but all I wanted was MP3 player with good sound quality). 3) No seeking during mp3 playback (something my old Kenwood and clarion mp3 players had). 4) This is a US model and will tune most AM/FM stations in the UK/Europe. The FM broadcast band is 87.8 to 108.0 MHz. so it will not pick up any FM stations outside this range. Also, the tuning is in odd increments (such as 96.1, 96.3, 96.5, etc.) so some stations with even frequencies will be slightly distorted, depending on the power of the signal the station generates. Mp3 playback and CD playback are great, most pioneer systems I have installed over the last ten years have sounded great, I have had good results with Kenwood, Clarion, Alpine, Sony (Explode Series not the regular Sony), I would suggest a speaker upgrade as well, JBL, Infinity, Kickers, Vibe, Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer and Sony are speakers I have used in the past and have sounded broad and dynamic (speaker upgrades are not that expensive these day (Pioneer, Sony and Kenwood have been bought by me for as little as £25 a pair) unless you go extreme and crazy with the spending). Bluetooth on this unit is great the microphone has to be positioned just right (I ended up putting it in the top corner of the A-Pillar), the unit has a wide Bluetooth profile support for audio(ADP2), headset profile, car kit profile, if you have the steering controls you can even control the phone from there. Its a pity I only gave this unit Good rating and not an Excellent rating, I have used Kenwood and Pioneer units before and they have allowed for changing the tuner settings from US to UK so that it tunes in even not odd numbers and widens the FM bands as well. Anyway if you want a nice flashy head-unit with great sound and Bluetooth then this is for you, with addition of replacement speakers(£50), subwoofer (£100)and amp(£170), you can have really crisp and dynamic car audio system.Read full review
Good: excellent sound, easy to fit, lots of toys, still working through them! Not so good: some of the features are a bit "Play-station" ie the "rev counter" display (don't have to display that one, though, & the kids love it); the chime each time the volume is adjusted (although that may be fixable, hasn't annoyed me enough to check the book). Hate: nothing! Just a bit pricey new, but, that's what eBay is for!
It's better than the preceding DEH-P9400MP not only in features but also noticeably the sound quality as well.Difficult to put your finger on it,but it's definately got better dynamics than it's predecessor. The equalizer has grown from 13 bands to 16,giving two more at the bottom end (20Hz and 31.5Hz) which are very useful if you've got a subwoofer in a sealed box to boost the extreme bottom end that a sealed box rolls off,and 20KHz at the top end to add a bit more sparkle to the very top end treble. The display is good and easily customisable to add your own slide or film show with whatever images you choose, and the full colour does make important functions easier to read. The various menu functions are a lot easier to navigate through than before with the button count reduced by about a half, everything being selected by just three main on-screen menus. Bluetooth works as it should, connects quickly and the sound quality is good without the echo that a lot of hands free kits still give.Read full review
The volume control especially is very annoying when in use. You just seem to have to turn it forever to turn the volume up or down a notch. The display is not as clear as expected and its not completely compatible with iphone or ipod as described. I would recommend going for one of the newer models instead.
