What an excellent product. I was convinced after a demo at a major retailer, and recommendation from a couple of work colleagues. Using the Playbar by itself, so without Sub. Does it need it? This unit goes plenty loud enough and deep enough without distorting so I would have to say not. Maybe I'll look at adding some Play speakers for surround at a later date but for now I'm thoroughly enjoying the noise this beauty is bringing to my movies and sports and listening to my NAS stored music collection. Even the wife is using it as the Android phone and iPad apps make it so easy to use and set up.

Sonos playbar sounds so good! They keep it simple and it it just works so good, great mounting options, they’ve thought this through and the surround setup (trueplay) balances each speaker. This model hasn’t changed since 2012 although looking a bit dated and not having a hdmi connection, it just works so good. Night mode and enhance the voice buttons are just what I needed. My Wireless Samsung setup was nothing but a headache and you couldn’t hear the talking parts in a movie. Wish I’d bought sooner!! Still waiting for a playbar 2 to be released but gave in and bought a 2nd hand surround setup btw the sub is mega (albeit expensive...worth it!)

I got great deal on this second hand Playbar through Cash convertors (who were just excellent by the way). I 'm a SONOS convert and had a couple of Play 1's in our sitting room and this is the only solution that enables me to integrate the TV / DVD etc into SONOS. As a standalone unit it's very good, but personally the sound quality and stereo seperation not stunningly good enough to warrant the c£700 full price. However as a centre speaker combined with the Play 1's it really adds depth and substance to the already very good Play 1 sound and the set-up is brilliant now for music and TV in our sitting room. What it also demonstrates is how good the Play 1's are on their own - I think you get a lot of value from SONOS for your £180 per speaker here. So if you can grab yourself a c£400-£450 bargain on eBay for one of these and pair it with a couple of Play 1's you have got yourself an awesome system for £700. Would I buy it on its own for £700......I think even I as an avid SONOS fan couldn't justify that. DavidRead full review

Our TV has a great picture but sounds well muffled with the standard speakers. Installed this and all is in a different class. Had some speed bumps to deal with on install as the Android app did not like to complete the install. Managed to do it eventually using a PC. One note - Sonos support are pretty tricky to get hold of - lucky I managed it in the end without them. Overall love the product and the sound quality is excellent.

I like this sound bar very much. It was a massive improvement over my previous soundbar which did an ok job. It looks stylish and set up under the TV blends in well to not be overbearing. Even at low volumes the quality of the sound is evident and am sure it will be powerful enough for most people's needs. Controllable through the app and even sets itself up through your original TV remote. Night mode is helpful as it drops the powerful base and highlights speech. Works just as well as any other Sonos speaker for music playback. Things you need to consider before buying: it's heavy and very likely to need an additional purchase for a bracket to attach to TV bracket or wall (between mounting bracket and speaker it added 8 kg). Price is high (and just got higher) so although you will most certainly be happy once you've got it home and set up, the actual purchase may hurt a bitRead full review
