A fantastic book, the second part in the His Dark Materials Trilogy. The first (Northern Lights) encompasses the adventures of Lyra Belaqua and the use of her alethiometer (truth-reader) which was made into a feature film starring Daniel Craig as Lyra's father. This is the second book, and arguably the core of the trilogy. This novel encompasses the further adventures of Lyra after she meets Will, a young man with a troubled home who becomes the keeper of a knife that opens rifts to other parallel worlds. This is the story of their adventures, both separately and together.
