Managed to desolder an entire PC mechanical keyboard in minutes. Previously I tried desolder g with braid and also with a manual pump but had really poor results. On the other hand this desolder g station made the job really easy. Cleaning it was also simple. Hope it will last

Using this item... I was but the gun snapped off with small amounts of pressure which is required to get the soldered pin in the hole. Broke on first use at only 250c.. It will go a lot higher.. The heat melted the plastic holder that holds the metal gun in place.

While the main unit seems fairly well put together, the desolder gun is not great. It is very difficult to remove the glass tube at the rear for cleaning - so much so, that I was half expecting the glass to shatter in my hand while trying to prise it out of the gun. The pump also makes a fairly harsh rattling sound when the suction is activated. For £80 I would have expected better quality. On the plus side though, it seems effective at desoldering joints and works so much better than desolder braid or the hand pump sucker I have used in the past. Consequently there is less chance of damaging delicate PCBs by trying to remove components that dont have all the solder removed. This unit sucks them clean thankfully.

The ZD-915 is probably the best "bang for buck" desoldering station on the market today. It just works so well, makes trough hole pcb component removal so easy and reduces the risk of board damage....pad lift is now a thing of the past! Definitely my favourite workshop tool.

I've been needing to get something like this for some time and finally decided on this model. First impressions are heavy and it'll last longer than I expect it will. It's a little noisy to use and the metal part of the gun that heats up seems to wobble slightly when in use - I move it side to side to help move the leg of the component around to remove as much solder as possible. So far I've removed nearly all the components from an old RAM expansion module for the Amiga that I'm in the process of repairing which was damaged due to battery leakage. I've removed almost every component so easily. It comes with a little bad of spare filters and spare nozzles plus a bag of three metal rods to clean out and unblock the gun. I did experience one minor blockage removing the RAM chips from the board but I think this was more down to my usage more than anything as as soon as I'd pulled it away from the circuit board, I let go of the trigger. I've since delayed letting go after removing from the board and have since had no problems.Read full review
