A nicely crafted piece of kit. Sturdy and tight fitting. The trade off is that it is heavy enough to make a real difference while using a neck strap. The grip could be moved to the outside a bit, its a tight fit between it and the lens for my glove size 10 hands. Locks steady in my ARCA tripod head. While there is access to the battery door, getting the battery out through the opening with large fingers is challenging. Not perfect but it is an improvement in grip and tripod readiness.

I had the genuine Olympus version of this grip so can compare directly. It's not built to the same standards but at a fraction of the price I have no problem with that. Just aesthetics. It's not going to break. However, I bought this to use with my larger 12-40mm pro lens and it's not compatible, so will probably never use it. The problem is the grip. It's too fat and I can't get my fingers between the grip and the lens. The Olympus grip is 5-10mm narrower at this point and this isn't a problem. I expected this copy to be the same but it's not, so effectively useless. There's no need to use it with the smaller MFT lenses.

Great quality for the price. Precision made. The grip is a bit wide to fit fingers between 12-100mm f4 Olymous lens but still usable, it would be perfect if the grip was a bit narrower. Good access to side flaps and battery without removing bracket . With the end L section fitted the screen wont rotate when flipped out to left but I think any L bracket would cause the same thing. I don’t use the end L plate so its not relevant to me. I use it on a Panarama rig mainly but still leave it on the camera for handheld. Im sure a Really Right Stuff unit might be a bit better if you can afford it. Highly recommend

I use these plates on most of my cameras. This one is well made and adaptable so I can detach the hand grip and/or the short plate for vertical shots if required. With the articulating screen swinging out, you cannot swing it out beyond 90 degrees with the vertical plate on (same with many other plates) so it is good that it detaches. This stays permanently on my camera now

This screw in grip has cut outs so that you can access the battery and SD card without removing the grip. The base is shaped to slot into an ARCA tripod plate. The whole thing is solidly made and the grip adds stability to the E-M5s handling in exchange for a slight weight increase.
