      Emergency Leak Fix

Purchased to attemp a fix on a petrol tank leak on car. The leak was via two small holes (a little larger than pin holes) as a result of corrosion in the top half of the tank. As with all applications of sealers, glues etc, its crucial to have the repair area clean/rust free and dry prior to applying the putty, which is firstly 'kneeded' in the palm of the hand to both warm it up, and mix it correctly, to the point where it is a uniform grey with no black streaks. This i did, then attached it to the tank, it took some pressing to get it to stick fully initially, then it was a case of leaving it harden, which is claimed to be from an hour later onwards. In the event i left it for 24hrs, keeping the fuel level below the source of the leak via axle stands, or if available use a syphon ...

    • epoxy putty tube!

Bought to repair a carburetor float bowl so had to be petrol proof, mixed some up and put a couple of balls of it into a jar of fuel and left it for a fortnight after which it was still hard and showed no signs of breaking down ,so use for the repair which is still sound after a month!. you have to be careful to get equal amounts of putty and hardener i use a single edge razor blade to cut off a slice- mix well then mix for a minute or so longer than you think it needs to be sure you want a uniform grey colour it would be easier if they made the two parts contrasting colours such as black/yellow so you could see it is totally mixed through! works very well on hard surfaces but not so well on plastic and rubber ( the potential for movement is so much greater!) but if used as intended its ...

Very good product for every day repairs that glues can't handle Have used it several times over the years and has proved a reliable and useful thing to have in the toolbox

    • Excellent epoxy putty

This epoxy putty sets quickly to give a very strong repair. You will need to work quickly in hot weather or if you have very warm hands. Once cured, the material is very hard and adheres well to metal and wood subtrates. Unmixed, shelf life appears to be good.
