Most raw food books will use a little honey and as a vegan, I accept this. The author uses a little dairy but fish? I wish this was clearly stated on the listing and the book. Also uses non-raw ingredients and some out moded ideas. Quote 'sometimes raw foodists and vegans can be deficient in protein'- As a vegan of 30 years and a raw foodist of 3, I know of no vegans who don't get enough protein. Even fruit has it! She mentions ingredients like tahini, and says to get 'unhulled ones' yet fails to mention the obvious- it is the fact they are ROASTED which makes them non-raw. You can get raw tahini. She uses tempeh and although not raw is a living, enzyme rich food through the fermentation process. She really needed to explain that. Saying that, I did find some unusual and new ideas but seems to rely heavily on gluten containing grains. Even though they are sprouted, many raw foodists avoid these due to anti-nutrients. It is ok for a beginner but there are better books out there.Read full review
