I live in Australia but bought one of these radios in Ireland to use while doing extreme gardening (pick and shovel, head in bushes, etc). I was so pleased with it, I bought a second one from the UK as a back up. They have a rugged design, good reception, produce good quality sound and get good value from a couple of triple-A batteries. My only complaint is that the ear buds, though OK on sound quality, don't hold in my ear so I've added them to my pile of unused earbuds. After a year, my first radio developed a crack but I can only blame myself as I carried it around in my pocket, where it's put under strain and gets a beating from walls, rocks, tools, etc. I now use a metal belt 'pocket' (leftover from old mobile phone days) which should give it sufficient protection. Improvements - add USB-rechargeable and bluetooth.Read full review

It is a good radio but the reception is not as good as the previous Roberts Sports Radio I owned which did not show the time and only used 1 AAA battery. The only reason I bought a new one is that the metal pre-tune buttons had all snapped off. You really need a case for the radio if travelling otherwise you are in danger of the same thing happening.

My existing Roberts pocket radio “died” after 20+ years of use, leaving a gap in my on-foot entertainment, so I was delighted to find this refurbished model on eBay. It is in use every day; gives excellent clear reception, is easy to turn on & off and fills the gap left by its predecessor. I like the security lock facility too. Well done!

I feel that his is a good radio for the price. It is quite easy to use and to preset stations. This radio has stereo headphones good for litsioning to the football machines on Talk Sport with the world cup now underway. I will use it to take on holiday and listen to the England Wold Cup Machine's. There is a intermittent buzzing sound that comes through the headphones dependent on where you are but you have to bear in mind that there is no external Arial so the headphones are acting as an Arial and speakers all in one, apart from that it is a very small and light radio. 8 out of 10

Very good compact personal radio with good reception, easy tuning and useful presets. I had a previous one for years but it eventually got pretty knocked about - but still worked. Quite expensive to replace until I found this reconditioned one much cheaper and just as good as new.
