Love this lens. This lens is actually lighter than my Nikon 200mm f2.8! Doesn't have stabilization or work as auto on my camera but is light enough to pack around and I have really taken some nice free handed shots with this lens. I am impressed with the pics I've taken with this lens in full 500mm. It feels almost too light and was worried about the quaility at first but the quaility is there and takes great pics. Very nice lens to use if you want to get wildlife closer and not break your arm. I recommend it highly.

This is an above average lens! For this focal range and the price point, it is hard to be beat! Of course @ 500mm wide open it is a bit soft, lol, but that would be a given, stopped down a single stop sharpens things up quite nicely and then a little local contrast enhancement and curves adjustments in post and it is good to go! It controls CA/PF's very well for a lens in this price range and focal range! Contrast is good! Color reproduction is good. Focus speed is a bit slower due to not being an HSM motor, but it is not super slow, just not super fast. Great lens for the birder or wildlife shooter who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a lens but wants a lens good enough to produce outstanding larger prints. A little slow for sports, but used on the wider end and in a daytime well lit area it does work for sports.Read full review

I have not had time to use it yet. Hocked it up to camera and something is out of adjustment. View tremendously clean and sharp. It might be as good as a Nikon lens looking forward to good weather and time to use it. Going to eagles nest about ten miles from here then I'll know how good or bad. Have smaller Sigma lens it works great. Sigma seems to be cheaper then Nikon and almost same results.
Liked the lens, had little bit issues initially. As soon as I attached to my D7100, it gave FEE error. Googled and found the lens settings to be changed. Last week went to Cattus Island County Park in New Jersey and using this camera took some birds pictures.
