I lived with this Tv for a month and ended up having to return it because of the dreadful sound. The speakers vibrate at certain pitches , and watching films is almost impossible because you cannot hear the speech even with the clear voice setting enabled, I also noticed that the volume was inconsistant and kept going up and down in levels. Apparently most Led tvs have this problems , but some are better than others ....we have swapped for a Panasonic and that is definitely much better . The solution to this is rig up to a sound bar , but that is more expense ! The picture is good , but if you are not sitting straight on it is not so good. Cannot comment on the 3D as I did not use it ....not really my thing . I wasn't massively keen on the internet connection as it seems to be a real pain , I watched a few films on love film instant , but trying to find the film that you want takes ages , and quite frankly it is easier to connect your laptop via an HDMI cable . So , good quality picture , terrible sound . I also think that the build quality seemed a little flimsy compared to the more solid feeling Panasonic set that we now have .Read full review
Brilliant TV Great Picture love the internet connectivity The stand is much better than the later ones ! The remote works well It took a bit of getting used to all the different functions but the built in manual is quite good . All in all a Really good buy at a good price. The sound on the tv is not good but played though an amp and good speakers its great.
I bought by misstake but because it was a sony TV I decided to buy it, the picture quality is not as good as the analog with the digital built in.the internet part of it I am still trying to set up with the dongle I tried with ethernet cable what a big disapointment at what you could use on it
As a successful and well known product designer myself I tend to take a long time in first researching a product line and then narrowing it down to just a handful before finally placing my order for one of them. It wasn't any different in this case. My main purpose for buying a new TV was that it should serve me well in my bedroom and cover just about every available option that could be found in a modern set. That included 3D, Freeview HD, internet TV, and LED display, and firmware updates over the internet. This Sony has them all. But the inclusion of auto standby was the deal clincher. However, one issue that had worried me from the start with internet access was the requirement to buy a dedicated USB wireless dongle. I helped in the design of USB dongles for Trendnet and knew that USB wireless was far slower than wired RJ45. However I had devised a way to bypass a wireless USB dongle by converting it to a wireless RJ45 dongle. And fortunately this Sony had no problem with recognizing and accepting my far better, cheaper, and most importantly, a faster internet connection method. For those of you who wish to emulate my alternative wireless dongle, here is what you do: 1. Get a wireless repeater with a RJ45 socket on it. Set the repeater up as per the manufacturer's instruction so that it acts as a repeater between your router that is connected to the internet, and any PC in your home. That bit is important since you are going to swap the PC for the TV after setting up the repeater. To do that, plug the wireless repeater in as close as possible to the TV. 2. Get a suitable length of RJ45 cable that will reach from the RJ45 socket on your TV to the RJ45 socket on the repeater. It is important that TV and the repeater are switched off when you make this connection otherwise you won't get a valid IP address from the router! After you have wired up the TV and repeater, switch the repeater on first and then the TV. Go into the Sony internet connection menu and set it for auto setup. And now you got a far faster and cheaper wireless internet TV! Coming back to the Sony, setting up the sound and picture took some time. The sound is OK, but the TV does need a soundbar for proper audio performance. I connect mine via the optical output to a Caiman DAC that I bought from another eBayer Home_HIFI instead. The DAC connects to my stereo. Sound quality that way is just amazing and well worth trying out. So all and all, a brilliant TV that would easily last me 5 years or more. And as far as using it in the bedroom is concerned, the auto standby is a life saver. If I don't move for more than 30 minutes (adjustable) the TV switches off automatically!!! So no more worries about the TV staying on all night if I fall asleep whilst watching TV.Read full review
