This is quite easy to use with not a lot of waste, I have used it for onions, carrots, sweet potatoes and beetroot. It works well but it seems very Flimby and I worry that it might break but then again I am used to using power tools and cement mixers!! It had trouble with a cucumber as the centre is soft and kept falling off and norrow carrots it seems to shred rather than spiralise. But all in all it does what it is supposed to amd I would pay the extra few quid for a Salter rather than an unbranded as they will probably be more flimsy.

Start with the photo of the carrot spirals used on the box and advertising. You'll be lucky to get them from a carrot that narrow. There is a design problem, at the blade end there is a spindle which is too wide (it's a cutting tube). This means that the nearest spiral cutting blade is over half an inch from the centre and only fatter vegetables can reach it. Any less than 1 inch wide only touch the straight blade, you get some neat shavings and a tick stick form the centre. Attempts with small courgettes were not much better. So for narrow vegetables this is not much better than a coarse grater, which costs much less and is easier to clean. Second issue shows lack of thought in production. The straight blade is VERY sharp, this is good. But someone decided to put warning labels on them - with very sticky glue which is hard to remove. They aren't dishwasher safe so you have to scrub by hand - and you can guess how that ends! Third. The prongs at the handle end are plastic and don't seem very durable. I tried a celeriac (which did reach the sprial cutters!!) but this is tougher than carrots and the prongs were straining - so I ended up taking the handle off and holding the celeriac by hand. Overall a lot of hassle for limited success.Read full review

I decided to give my wife this spiralizer for xmas. Never even seen one before, so had no idea what to expect. Our 1st problem was the stickers warning of sharp blades. The glue took a lot of work to remove. The instructions are quite vague, but with a bit of trial and error we had some sliced or shredded veg. The machine is OK, if a bit flimsy. Can't see it lasting too long. It isn't suitable for the dishwasher either, which is a bit odd.

Quirky gadget, makes food fun! Big massive problem with it. It does not stick to any sort of work surface, ergo I can't use it unless my partner has a hood grip on it, which kinda removes the whole fun! Disappointing :(
