I have owned 2 lcd tv,s previosly, and i am in no doubt that a tv of 32" or above should be made using the plasma technology, lcd tv,s are fine upto 32" as long as you are prepared to pay an arm and a leg,lcd as far as picture quality (motion blurr, picture noise and depth of true colours are far (IN-SUPERIOR)to that of plasm technology (remember plasma has been around for getting on towards 50 years. THE SAMSUNG PS42Q96HD tv pushes out a hd signal of 1080i,not true 1080p...But i can Gaurentee that you will not notice any differance and it will give you a far superior optical veiwing experience than any top of the range 42" true 1080p lcd out there. In standard def sky this tv out performs my fathers Panasonic Viera plasma by miles and do not for get at the price i paid via Comet (a mere £699)it is less than 1/2 the price of the Panasonic. In the past plasma have been blessed unfortunatley with the screen burn in phenonomum, but not so now SAMSUNG STATE THAT THEIR PLASMA TV,S HAVE A LIFE SPAN TO RIVAL LCD 60,000 HRS thats 20 years at 8hrs veiwing time a day),they are taking the burn in phenonomum seriously as they have added pixel shift to this model (this moves the tv icons minimaly not visible to the naked eye),a signal pattern mode and white screen all three of these will prevent screen burn in,i have owned my PS42Q96HD for about a year and it displays no screen burn in what so ever and having 3 kids watching all types of channels with screen icons i can honestly say that Samsung have done a superb job. The picture and optical veiwing experience are supeb on SKY standard def source, giving true and deep colours with no waxy feeling as most lcd tv,s give, there is no motion blurr on fast moving objects such as live football and hardly any picture noise (boyh of these are very commom failings of larger and to a lesser degree in smaller sized lcd tv,s).In sky hd mode this tv is as close to perfect as yo could get out performing anything before it and as far as lcd goes a long time after it.£ hdmi outputs,2 x scart and 2 x component outputs make this a highly versatile machine and will not let you down on veiwing sky standard def or sky hd...all in all if you want a large tv..do not bother with lcd or even a panasonic plasma YOU WILL NOT BEAT THIS THE SAMSUNG PS42Q96HD GRAB A BARGAIN OFF EBAY FOR LESS THAN £700 OR THE NET FOR LESS THAN £600....GO AND GET ITRead full review
