I bought one of these new. Image quality is average, easy to understand menu. It had a few glitches, like failing to finalize discs if too many ( 40 plus) titles are created. Apparently it's finalization process is a bit 'off-spec' when discs are fully finalized, meaning later disc titles are hidden/unavailable when viewed on some generic DVD players, but are accessible via computer DVD drive . Some macroblocking is noticeable on 4 and sometimes 2 hour recording mode. The Samsung wore out relatively early, maybe because I used ( apparently) the wrong discs. For recording I used the 16X speed DVD-R, it looks like they are bad for the recorder and destroy the laser in a short enough time - after 2 years or so of continuous use. On the plus side this Samsung recorder model R-150 lasted about as long as a more expensive brand I used.Read full review

Great dvd-recorder and an excellent price! Once again Samsung proves that you can have a great quality electronics for a fraction of a price of other manufacturers. Works great, quite and excellent image quality.
Very good dvd recorder for the price picture quality good and simple to use as my son uses it in his room
Its great, I can only compare against two other machines I have used, and I can definitely say this is the quickest and most reliable. I would recommend to others. and so far reliability has been great.
I needed this unit to copy old tapes from my video movie camera. When the movies are copied up to disks, they can then be copied again onto the pc & kept as back-ups.
