A rebadged Pentax k10 the Samsung gx10 improves on its twin with nicer buttons and a clearer menu layout. Otherwise the performance is identical. It also displays the same flaws, tilted sensor and autofocus calibration problems. Image quality is very good at low to medium ISO. Maximum ISO is noisy but not unusable or unpleasant to look at. A well made camera with weather sealing and good specification for the year of manufacture.

Regarded as semi professional in it's day; this camera more than satisfies the needs of most enthusiasts. Great build quality and resistant to water, dust and freezing it is rated at 10 mp which is plenty for me. The Samsung / Pentax alliance was short lived but this camera is a great testimony to that collaboration.

I was looking for a Pentax K mount DSLR to allow me to return to the world of SLR Photography after a break of many years. My Pentax film SLRs and lenses have been residing in the loft for some time now as my Digital pics have been provided by a series of Fuji compacts and most recently a Fuji S8000fd Bridge camera. When I set out I was looking for a Pentax K10D or similar and had never appreciated that the Samsung was a rebadged K10D with some minor modification to the body exterior and the menu structure. The example I bought was in mint condition and it came with the standard kit twin lens package of the Schneider Kreuznach 18-55mm and 50-200mm optics. This camera is absolutely brilliant! Its flexibility and combination of fine tuning built into the software is both easy to use and highly effective. Image quality has been a real revelation. Contrast, saturation and balance have been spot on! Using it with my collection of lenses for my film SLR's has been a learning exercise but the use of manual lenses on this body is actually a doddle (now I know what i am changing in the software and there are many websites that guide you through this process). Overall, if this was stolen tomorrow I would immediately be on the hunt for another GX-10!Read full review
I recently bought a second hand GX10 via ebay for £100, having had a Samsung G1L from new. The model I bought had damage to focus selector, which means that it is stuck in automatic, however this doesn't concern me. I realise that this camera is very out of date compared to current models but I can not fault the picture quality and the camera being weather proofed removes many concerns when going out shooting. Buying second hand like this allows you to enjoy a casual hobby without great expense. I picked up a Sigma 18 - 200 lens also for £120, giving me an excellent combination. Great fun for less than £250, a new set-up of similar quality would be of the order of £750 - £1000. This old camera still lives up to its original glowing reviews.
Ha, snap! I ALSO already had a Pentax K10D, and wanted a second body for weddings, so I bought the Samsung GX-10 as essentially it IS the same camera. The menu is slightly different in places, and the buttons are slightly different (but in the same places), but everything else is the same. Cracking camera, twin scroll wheels for speedy adjustments, AND you're able to use all the old Pentax glass from the past 50 years, IMAGE STABILISED as the I.S. is in the body not the lenses like Ca**ns or Ni**ns! Buy one!
