Used Hard Drive
Have to admit I was wary of purchasing a used hard drive, but because the specification matched exactly what i trying to replace it was worth a try. Glad I did in this case as it fitted exactly into place as a back up to my CCTV system and it self installed and formatted immediately. Had the system back up and running in under 20 minutes.

Crashed after only 10 months use
I bought this hard drive 10 months ago as additional storage, the product at first seemed perfect, and I was using it as a data dump for my movies and tv shows, sadly a few days ago, it has crashed. Typically such drives can last anywhere from 5 to 10 years. The machine I used has the same model of drive, has ran for 9 years with no issues, it could be that I was just unlucky.

It is a Hard Drive.
As a normal PC user who uses hard drives as something needed to just be in place and work as well as other hard drives, and not a massive reviewer for magazines and trade adverts, the Barracuda does its job. It is quiet, it is faster than some of my previous drives (but it is new and hasn't been filled with fragmented data left over from previous use) and I would hope it is going to stay reliable. The questions asked to give a star rating contains the question "Is it reliable" How can a new user be expected to answer that when it is only a couple of months old?Perhaps I will re-evaluate the four star rating in a year or two when the question of reliability can be assessed. What else can be said about a Hard Drive? It works and is fairly quiet and that is all as it is just another Hard ... FOLLOW UP INFORMATION This HDD lasted untilOctober 2020, just over 3 years use as the main drive on a PC that is on and used 16+ hours every day. That is over 20400 hours of use. Is that reliable? I would say it is and add that it is one of the best so far to be on for that many hours. Most of my previous drives have never made it past 2 years before they started to give me trouble. I still use Barracuda drives as backup drives and for major storage of photos and books but my new Portus Digital All-in-one uses SSD's so I don't think I will be buying so many discs in future.
