It is unusual to get a fully synthetic oil that has a lower viscosity figure of 10. The lower figure is normally 5 which I consider too thin for my requirements. The viscosity of this oil is only normally found in semi synthetic oils. Add to that, the fact this oil is used by many in wet clutch applications with no problems and it is recommended by some manufacturers- all this adds up to a desirable product.

I always use fully-synthetic 10W40 for my CB1300 and change oil and filter around every 7K miles. Before Shell Ultra, I'd been using mostly Motul 7100 and Castrol Power 1 Racing. The Honda CB1300 is a fantastic machine and I really don't notice notice any difference in engine sound or shifting. The bike hardly loses a drop of oil and the only thing I notice is change of colour and viscosity. This is the first time I'm using Shell Ultra after watching their promotional video. To be honest, I don't have the facility to test the oil scientifically and I have no way of telling if the engine is happier with this oil. Based on the 3000 miles I've done so far and also trusting Shell as a brand, I'd recommend this oil. I'll come back and edit this review after my oil change and I hope I'll stick with this oil from then on. Update: Changed the oil after 6.5k miles and the oil still seemed oily enough (finger test for viscosity). I'll get this oil again for winter.Read full review

Excellent value for a fully synthetic 4 stroke bike oil. only tiny gripe is the can doesn't pour very readily and tends to 'glug' and cause small spills if you try to rush it. Highly recommended though.

How can anyone review an oil?. I trust that shell put fully synthetic oil in the can and I put it in my bike!. It's cheaper than other brands and Ducati use it. That's good enough for me.

Us bikers spend big money on our bikes. Treat it to some top quality oil and the engine and gearbox will last a long time. Been using this product for some time; my bikes seem to like it. Worth shopping around for the best price as it does vary from place to place. I tend not to use dealerships anymore because of the high prices. Being fully synthetic - "Does it cause clutch slip?" In a word, no! If you want to go drag racing you will require something else. For road use this oil is fantastic. Nice and thin for starting and good engine cooling. I tend to change this oil every 4000 miles which is probably unnecessary but you engine/gearbox will 'thank you' for it. Great product and a great price. Latest spec as well. Recommended for many modern high revving engines.
