What I love about these movies is you get the comic book style black and white with a small twist of colour just enough for you to be gripped in the movie, the narrative part is also a class act telling you what the main character is feeling or seeing, you could close your eyes and just listen to this movie, it was well thought out and brilliantly written its a movie that you will love if your into comic book gangster style drama....We need more movies in this style...

More than turning his graphic novel into a film Frank Miller has turned his film into a graphic novel, so expect some of the finest arty graphic work. The look is every bit designed like the novel genre it’s drawn from, even the comic frames are recreated – only here they move. It’s like never seen before on screen. Actors are more and more asked to stray off their acting lessons and perform new kinds of characters and heroes. Here the realism is a cross between the cold grimness found in old gangster movies and the super-heroism found in modern graphic novels. It’s as realistic and credible as a comic strip. The lines are overacted with dramatic tones, girls with slender curves and guys with square heads bend their play to accommodate the ink lines – even some heads are given a thorough refacing to look like dark toons. And guess what: it works, it’s even genius. The script is an intricate jigsaw of interwoven short stories sown with the darkest humor – a hell of a work. But… here comes the downside. The tandem Tarantino-Rodriguez is on the job, so you’ll have abundant bloodshed, extreme violence, and some of the most insane mutilations – and mind you: it’s repulsively gore at times. “Yeesh!” Since our censorship censor love and what feels good (they call it ‘dirty’) and populate our minds with what hurts and as many evils as hell can provide (they call it ‘clean’), you won’t be spared any of it. So prepare to feel sick and possibly avert you eyes from time to time. To sum the picture up, this film introduces you into the worst of all worlds: Sin City – a blend of striking creativity and gore insanity – so don’t expect to have sweet dreams afterwards (well, unless Jaime King or Alexis Bledel come flying through your night that is).Read full review
