You have to go back to where you’ve been sometimes, just to keep tabs on where you’re going. I was a teenager in the 60s, turned 20 in 71, and Mott the Hoople came at me like a bunch of razor sharp, diamond hard roughnecks. (In demi-perms and Lurex? Yeah - okay.) So I bought Mott the Hoople’s Super Hits the other week. What a po-faced, spotty ‘erbert I must have been Still some great tunes, though – All the Young Dudes obviously, but All the Way to Memphis, Roll Away the Stone and Honaloochie Boogie too Ten out of ten for the seller, by the way. I pay by postal order and still had the disc in my hand barely 48 hours after end of auction And here’s a tip for you – if you want to hear Sweet Jane, don’t stop here: go straight to The Velvet Underground original Cheers
I'm a mott fan anyway so I knew what I was getting. For the neutrals or young music fans you'll get a slice of real glam rock/ rock. Some good tracks on this album. Ian Hunter and Mick Ralphs are superb on this selection.Well worth owning. 7/10
Got the full recording of 'violence' which is fairly unusual and that was the main reason I brought it. The CD inset is fairly basic but the tracks are brilliant
All the best from Ian Hunter and his group in the 70s you will all know and recognise many some still regularly played today. He was a great (sadly unrecognised) British songwriter who never became as rich or famous as many of his contemporaries . Go on buy this and see
