easy to move around from bench to bench

it is alot lighter construction than my old one but it is a larger watt motor so it actually outperforms the latter, assembly is not for the faint hearted as the instructions are not very clear but as i use this type of machinery in my stick making it was not a problem.

  • Most critical review

    Good for very basic uses.

The saying, you get what you pay for, comes to mind when using this machine. Bad bits: When putting it together you have to rely on squares to make sure tables are set to the belt and disc properly, don't rely on the unit marker. It's adequate for basic jobs, push a bit too hard to get that extra bit of excess you want to sand away and it will stop, so be careful. The dust extraction for the belt is ok but doesn't work so well using the disc. Instructions are useless so figure it out yourself before turning on the machine and use it. The motor is powerful enough for those basic jobs. Good bits: It's very cheap so if you only need it for hobby craft sanding and those basic little jobs it's well worth the price. The disc and belt you get sands pretty much anything, and in my opinion the best part of the tool. All in all for the price you pay for this I would say it's a good machine for those basic jobs but if you are an avid woodworker hobbyist like me or need something with some grunt definitely go more expensive. The reason I bought this is because money is tight and I needed a belt disc sander to help with a couple of projects I'm doing so as soon as I can afford it I will buy a much better one. Saying that I will most likely keep it for those everyday little jobs unless I run out of room in my workshop.

  • It's OK

It's cheap and cheerful. Not a lot more. It isn't well balanced and vibrates a bit more than it should. Seems to be the disc that causes it. It works well enough for the occasional DIY use but a bit on the lightweight side. Most of the adjustments are straightforward, although the option of using the table against the belt in a vertical position isn't very practical, since the table can't be taken close to the belt - unless I've missed something. It's fine if you just use the one belt/pad for everything but changing them entails removing screws/bolt/guards, etc and if you anticipating changing the disc, you can ONLY use the self adhesive variety, not the velcro backed type.

  • Good for light DIY but not as heavy duty as inferred

this is a lightweight sander and not in any way an industrial machine. Having said this, its up to the job for light intermittent use in a DIY setting. I cant fault it from a value for money point of view. the machine takes little setting up from the box and is ready for use within a few minutes. i have screwed the machine down to the bench as i prefer it in the vertical position. Not doing this leaves the machine vulnerable to moving when using more pressure on the belt. This is less of a problem if used horizontally. Sadly there are no holes on the base, so the ones i have drilled most probably invalidate the guarantee. some other mods to the table have improved the sander further. i’ve used the sander for a few days now and with the few mods I’ve made, I’m sufficiently happy with this purchase. certainly would recommend if required for light use in a DIY workshop.

  • Great for the price

It's very cheap and with a bit of tinkering and refining, it's not much different than the rest on the market for an extra hundred pounds. The motor size is the same as most others and is strong enough. I'm grinding stainless steel, I wanted a larger machine, but with the 915 x 100 you have better availability of fine grit belts.

  • Switzer Belt and Disc Sander

A very effective addition to a handyman’s working shed. Sturdy enough for most jobs and easy to position as it does not demand lots of space. It could have benefitted from holes in the base to bolt it down.

  • Disc and belt sander

A very good quality product with multiple uses I have used it on several occasions with good results

  • Great price, great product

Great belt sander. I've been doing heavy metal grinding and it strips away material fast without any slipping of belts or reduced motor speed. Great torque, great product. Do not run it for more than half hour though continually as the motor will get hot.let it cool for ten minutes and away you go again, happy days

  • Belt sander

This workshop tool is excellent value for money. It does everything as advertised. I think it's fair to say that the unit is for hobby use & not industrial use. Only just got it, so far so good.
