Over-engineered/priced for the target use
I stupidly bought this cable (didn't do my research) as an upgrade for a Technics SL-BD1 and/or Pioneer PL-7 turntable. Unfortunately, the cable is way to thick (each audio line is 5.7mm O.D.) to properly/securely mount in either of these turntables. Being so thick, the cable is way too rigid as well, making it a real pita when running the cable behind the turntable. Nevertheless, I did, as an experiment, wire it in the PL-7, recorded a few tracks, and then compared the recorded audio data results with recordings made with the same PL-7 using standard flexible mini-coax RCA connectors -- no difference whatsoever. The point here is that these so-called "audiophile" cables are largely just "eye-candy" -- the gold plating is silly, just looks nice, nothing more; and the elaborate shielding offers little here -- in all my years owning and repairing turntables I have yet to see EMI issues due to RCA cables themselves. Fact is, cables such as these are needed for high-freq signaling and long-runs but provide essentially no performance improvement for 2-3 foot audio-freq cables,
