This is American rock'n'roll with an infectious beat and a doo wop influence at its best. It features the hits Western Movies (no. 12 in 1958) and Shimmy like Kate (no. 40 in 1961), along with 10 others. It is I believe the only current Olympics collection to include Western Movies, which was recorded for a different label. Both hits could be included on this CD because the group re-recorded some of their old titles for a third label in the mid 1960s. However, they used the same producer (Fred Smith) and stayed faithful to the original arramgements. Tracks 1-6 consist of these re-recordings. Tracks 7-12 were new material in the mid 1960s. These are closer to soul music, but still well worth a listen for rock fans. Other collections (e.g. Arvee Singles Plus with 27 tracks) are available for those who want only the original rock/doo wop music. June 2011 ChrisRead full review
